The rocky relationship between Oakland-bred R&B singer Keyshia Cole and her mother, Frankie Lons, has experienced major speed bumps and strains throughout the years, amid Frankie’s battle with drug addiction.
Fortunately, their dynamic has dramatically improved at certain points. However, a recent relapse has interrupted Frankie’s road to recovery, as revealed in Keyshia’s Instagram post.
In light of support for her mother during this trying time, she is looking back to a simpler, healthier moment with her mom and sharing a message for all those who have loved ones fighting the same battle.
In the video from early 2016, Frankie had opened up about her progress at that point. She’d even been going to church and asked everyone to keep her in their prayers to stay on the right track. “I’m taking this a day at a time,” Frankie said in the clip. “As long as I have something to do and stay focused, I won’t have to worry about no triggers.”
In the caption of the video, Keyshia shared: “This was 2 1/2 years ago. Every time my mom relapse, it breaks my heart more than it’s already been broken. I’m hoping if any of u are dealing with a family member who’s battling with drug addiction, that you, yourself are learning how to cope with the struggle of it all. And all the pain it brings to see a loved one constantly relapsing. See them go back to the streets Because that’s what they’re used to, or would rather be. I really miss you! And will always love u #FrankTheBank”

The hope now is that Frankie can soon return to this state of mind—mentally and physically—amid the troubling news.
It was last summer that Keyshia Cole vented her frustration on her mother relapsing in a series of tweets.
"I told my mother the other day I was afraid to lose her because she keeps going back to the streets." Keyshia once shared, before adding, "You know what she said? In return? She said, 'YOU'LL be aight.."
"I was like. [Expletive] is that suppose to mean. Smh. I will NOT be ok if something happens to her. AT ALL! No amount of money could replace. I don't think she cares. Really tho. I don't.”
"Maybe she doesn't know what she means to me. But that's weird when u think about it. She's the best thing that ever happened to me,” she also tweeted.
Awww. The entire situation is so gut-wrenching.
Keyshia previously addressed her mother's addiction in 2016, revealing that she had pulled out her pocketbook to try to help.
"Even went broke once putting all my money and house up to pay for mom's rehab. Nothing has worked on my end. But my aunt has not given up!!!! No one knows my mother like u do!!"
Sending love and positive thoughts to Frankie and her family. Cannot even imagine how difficult and heartbreaking this must be.
