LaLa Anthony Adds Broadway Producer To Her Resume: Joins "Eclipsed"
Alani "LaLa" Anthony has signed on to serve as a producer on the Broadway drama "Eclipsed", which stars Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o. Anthony, who is a former MTV VJ, is also an actress, author, and has her own cosmetic and clothing line.
Anthony released a statement about joining the Broadway production, saying, "I am so thrilled to be joining a production filled with such powerful, talented women. Eclipsed is a stunning new play that demands to be seen, and to make my Broadway debut as a producer with it is an honor!"
LaLa adds, "I'm especially excited to join the production’s efforts to bring thousands of young women to see the show through its 10,000 Girls campaign. What an extraordinary opportunity to pave the way for the next generation of commanding young women."
The Broadway play is set in 2003 Liberia near the end of the civil war. "Eclipsed" is about the "survival and resilience of a group of women who are captives of rebels fighting the government."
Nyong’o, who made her screen debut in “12 Years a Slave,” stars in the role of the “Girl,” the youngest of four captive wives of a rebel commander.
LaLa Anthony began her career as a VJ on MTV’s "Total Request Live", before venturing out into acting and business.
Anthony currently appears on the Starz original drama series, “Power”. She has previously been seen in "Think Like a Man,” “Think Like a Man, Too”, “Baggage Claim”, and “Two Can Play That Game.”
LaLa also previously starred on her own reality show on VHI entitled “Lala’s Full-Court Life”.
The Broadway show has an initial opening on March 6, 2016 at the John Golden Theatre.
