Ice Cube, Mike Epps, & John Witherspoon Spotted Filming New "Friday” Movie — Video

After all of this time…It is finally happening!

Yes—Last Friday, the 4th installment in Ice Cube’s amazing Friday movie series, is in production!

Comedian/Actor Mike Epps, who plays Cube’s cousin in the films, recently hopped onto his Instagram to share a snap and a clip of his time on set.

“Im sitting here with big bro. We working, we working ya dig?” he says before Cube comes in. Mike captioned the video “We working”.

Mike also posted a photo of him, Ice Cube, & John Witherspoon (Cube’s father in the film) on Instagram. The trio came be seen in a kitchen setting, with cameras behind them.

How exciting.

@icecube spitting game on the set is always Gold @johnwitherspoon was a danm fool today 😂😂had me rolling! Get ready for @thebig3 coming this summer!!

No hard details on when this movie will hit theaters (probably late next year), but we are pumped none-the-less as it’s safe to say it’s going to be another great movie for the culture.

We working!!

You know who probably won’t be making an appearance? Chris Tucker.

Chris once told Global Grind’s BlogXilla his thoughts.

“I was flipping through the TV and I was watching Friday. It was a moment in time...  I don’t know if we can do another one. I don’t know if I can do another one because I was so young and it was a moment in time, but we’ll see.”

Back in 2015, Ice Cube told Rolling Stone, "To me, it’s one of the number one movies you check out when you’re baked, or you’re getting down. There’s people that have ‘Friday’ parties, where they rent all three movies and just kind of enjoy ‘em.”

"It's morphed into this big thing, and it started off as this little, cool idea. To me, that’s what I’m most proud about: It's become part of not only just American culture, but there’s people all over the world that really love it. That's how movies should be.”

The original Friday (which was written by Ice Cube with DJ Pooh and directed by F. Gary Gray) was initially released in 1995, later spawning the sequels Next Friday (2000) and Friday After Next (2002). Oh and it had a small budget of $3 million, but it ended up bringing in $30 million at the box office.

It would be dope to see the original cast team up with new comers — like DC YoungFly and Ice Cube’s son, O’shea Jr. — who would be a perfect fit for a film like Friday.

So, what do you think? Thrilled? Annoyed? Nervous that this will be a disappointment? Sound off.
