Before we start, let me first say that Michelle Obama’s memoir Becoming drops in bookstores later this year. Honestly, we cannot wait to give it a read. She is such a class act! So much grace.
(Notice how she totally ignored all that craziness with Roseanne Barr
when she tried to drag her into it recently? As she should have; it was ridiculous.)
On top of continuing much of the work they kicked off during Barack’s two terms in office, the Obamas have also signed on for a multi-million dollar production deal with Netflix. Ca-ching!
Basically, the Obamas will produce a number of documentaries, features and even scripted series.
But not everyone is loving this move.
Comedian Chris Rock, (who signed his own $40 million-dollar deal with Netflix
two years ago), recently shared why he can’t get behind the Obamas’ latest business deal to The Hollywood Reporter
“I don’t want to live in a world where President Obama is worried about his Rotten Tomatoes score.”
“I want him above that at all times. Make your money, but I don’t want [him] to be involved with that.”
However, he does have a suggestion on who they should see if they are looking to get into production…
“I’d just send them over to Donald Glover […] That’s what I’d do.”
Hm. Does he have a point?
Even former Mexican President Vicente Fox expressed recently that the Obamas should “dedicate themselves more to the public arena”.
Um, they have been doing plenty though. Right?
Chris is an industry force to be reckoned with. Back in February, he drummed up plenty of attention by dishing about cheating on his then-wife
Malaak Compton-Rock in “Tamborine”, (his first comedy special in his Netflix deal).
"It’s my fault because I’m a [F’ing] [a’hole]. I didn’t listen, I wasn’t kind. I just thought I was the [ish], man.”
He continued on by explained that he had “brought this [ish] on myself. Nobody told me to go [F] up”, before stating that he had slept with three women.
“It’s [F’d] up. When guys cheat, it’s like we want something new. But then you know what happens? Your woman finds out, and now she’s new. She is never the same again. So now you have new, but you have a bad new.”
“You don’t wanna get divorced. You got somebody you love, hold tight. Commit.”
What do you think about Chris Rock’s comments about the Obama’s Netflix deal?
