Running from 2001 to 2005 on Disney Channel, The Proud Family proved to be a roaring success with three seasons and a television film. With the series finale now over a decade old, what has the cast been up to?

Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud

15-year-old Kyla voiced Penny, the main protagonist of the series. At the same time she recorded the voice for Penny, Kyla starred in the UPN sitcom One on One, which ended in 2006. She returned to her role as Maya Dolittle (the daughter of Eddie Murphy’s character in the film series) in three direct-to-video sequels. She also starred in the 2009 family comedy Hotel for Dogs alongside Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin. She appeared on the BET series Let’s Stay Together in the second season and on episodes of The Mentalist and The Soul Man. She had a recurring role in the Freeform drama series Recovery Road until its cancellation in May after one season. She gave birth to daughters in 2010 and 2013. She is currently dating tattoo artist Danny Kirkpatrick. She maintains an Instagram profile @kylapratt.

Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud

As the voice of Oscar, the overprotective father of Penny, Davidson used his stand-up skills to craft his character. Following the show’s finale, Davidson returned to stand-up work, hosting Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. He appeared as Cream Corn in the 2009 blaxploitation film Black Dynamite and reprised his role on the spin-off Adult Swim show of the same name. He also appeared on an episode of old friend Martin Lawrence’s sitcom Martin. He is currently engaged to a woman named Amanda, who appeared with him on a 2015 episode of Celebrity Wife Swap.

Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones

White has appeared on episodes of Jeremiah, The Shield, Boston Public, and How to Get Away with Murder. She recently returned to Disney Channel on the sitcom I Didn’t Do It as the owner of a juice bar. She has also appeared in several stage productions. She is on Twitter @karen-malina.

Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama

Payton has appeared in several roles on television, including appearances on the television shows such as Reba, Desperate Housewives, The Glades, and Mann & Wife. She appeared in Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns, a spin-off of the film of the same name. She is regularly involved in educational endeavors, including a fundraiser for Virginia Union University. She will have a role in the 2017 adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud

Following the series finale, Parker worked with Terrence Howard in Hustle & Flow, for which she garnered critical acclaim, and the Outkast musical film Idlewild. Her later film worked focused on smaller budget independent films. She had a major role in the seventh and final season of the HBO series True Blood and appeared on the reality series Hollywood Divas as a main cast member. In 2015, she joined the cast of the Amazon series Hand of God and reunited with Kyla Pratt on Recovery Road.

Tara Strong as Bebe and Cece

Strong has long been acclaimed for her diverse voice talent. Following The Proud Family, Strong has notably worked on Lilo & Stitch, Ben 10, American Dragon: Jake Long, The Boondocks, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Teen Titans Go! among numerous other roles. She is considered to be one of the world’s top voice actors.

Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey

Following her time as Penny’s nerdy friend, Frye did additional voice work for the Bratz movie and spin-off television series as Jade, as well as the voice of Assefa on Planet Sheen. She directed the documentary Sonny Boy, which documents a trip to see her father, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The documentary won acclaim at the Denver International Film Festival and was declared Best Documentary at the San Diego Film Festival. She has largely moved into entrepreneurship, with companies such as The Little Seed, an online children’s specialty boutique, P.S. XO, a party decorations retailer, and several books based on parenting and party planning. She has four children, including one born in May. Her website is

Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez

Following her stint as Penny’s frenemy, Reyes served as the DJ of Playboy Radio and PlayboyU Online. She largely works in independent films and dabbles in motivation speaking, modeling, and online coaching and personal development. She will be appearing in the upcoming crowd funded film The Circle.     Orlando Brown as Sticky Webb    

Following the finale of The Proud Family, Orlando continued his stint as a major character on the Disney Channel show That’s So Raven. He went on to make small appearances on shows such as Clifford’s Puppy Days, One on One, Phil of the Future, and Hell’s Kitchen. He has appeared in the films Christmas in Harlem, American Bad Boy, and a minor cameo in Straight Outta Compton. He released a rap album Trade It All in 2006. In February 2016, he was arrested for domestic battery, obstruction of justice, and drug possession.

Cedric the Entertainer as Bobby Proud

Oscar’s flamboyant brother was voiced by the always eccentric Cedric the Entertainer. Cedric has appeared in films such as Charlotte’s Web, Street Kings, Madagascar, Cadillac Records, and Barbershop: The Next Cut. He hosted the 2013-14 season of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, starred in the TV Land series The Soul Man, and appeared on Broadway in American Buffalo.

Phil LaMarr as Michael Collins

One of the most prolific voice actors of the 21st century, LaMarr has extensive credits in television, film, and video games, including Avatar: The Last Airbender, Scooby-Doo, Justice League, Wolverine & the X-Men, Young Justice, and the upcoming Samurai Jack revival.

Raquel Lee as Nubia Gross

Lee has mostly kept a low-profile since 2005, appearing in independent films A Numbers Game and Grow House, as well as a recurring role as Charmagne on Real Husbands of Hollywood. She married on July 10 and gave birth to her first child four days later. She maintains a Twitter account @RocsAstar.

Carlos Mencia as Felix Boulevardez

Mencia starred in the Comedy Central comedy show Mind of Mencia, a blend-up of stand-up and sketch comedy, which ran for three seasons. He continues to perform stand-up, albeit suffering from frequent claims of plagiarism from George Lopez, Bill Cosby, and Joe Rogan, as well as accusations of racism.

Maria Canals Barrera as Sunset Boulevardez

Barrera went on to star as Theresa Russo, the mother of the main cast of Wizards of Waverly Place. She also appeared in the Disney Channel Original Movies Camp Rock and its sequel. She has appeared in the films Larry Crowne and God’s Not Dead 2.
