He did WHAT?! The real reason why Mary J. Blige is divorcing Kendu Isaacs has been revealed! [VIDEO]
Mary J. Blige filed for divorce from Kendu Isaacs after 12 years of marriage in July, citing irreconcilable differences and asking a judge to deny Isaacs spousal support. Now, the R&B singer has revealed she filed for divorce after not receiving the respect she asked for many times.
Blige, 45, opened up about her pending divorce during her appearance on "Good Morning America" with Robin Roberts.
The singer told Roberts, "My heart is ok. I'm hanging in there. No one wants to go through this, and this is hard."
Blige opened about what caused her to decided to file for divorce. She explained, "The breaking point was when I kept asking over and over and over again for respect and to be respected. And it just seemed like I was beating a dead horse and it seemed like I was talking to a wall. I just wasn’t getting it back so if I can’t get respect in the relationship, then I have to move on and save myself. That was the point where I was like, ‘I’m done. I just can’t do it anymore.'"
Her estranged husband Kendu, who was rumored to be having an affair with singer Starshell, is reportedly requesting $130,000 per month from Blige in spousal support.
Blige told Roberts that it’s important to keep on top of financial matters when you are going through a divorce. She said, "My message to those women that are going through the same thing that I’m going through or a similar situation is that you cannot rely on people to handle your business. You have to handle your business. You have to take responsibility and stay on top of it because things like this will happen if you don’t."
She adds, "Surround yourself with good people and, of course, you need people that will help you, but they can’t do everything for you. You have to be in mix of it."
In the months after her split, Blige dropped a song about what she was going through called "Thick of It."
In a press release, Mary admitted, "It’s almost painful to let it out. I don’t hold back though. It’s not who I am and there’s no way I am going to start changing now."
